Before starting KaraokeMedia PRO X for the first time, you must make sure that you have a codec pack installed, if you wish, you can continue using the ones you have installed on your PC. If you don’t have any we recommend the K-lite Codec Pack 16.2.0 Mega, you can download it here, the installation should only be done the first time, after that you don’t need to install anything in the following updates of the program.

If you decide to install the K-lite Codec Pack, remember that you must first uninstall the previous codecs, if you had any installed.

Initial configuration

The programme needs two screens to work, the first one where the programme is going to be managed and a second screen that shows the normal video output of the programme, which is the one that the audience sees (it shows the karaoke song, the call to the client, etc.). It should be taken into account that the signal of the latter can be duplicated as many times as you want, depending on the number of screens in the room, for which you need a splitter that can be purchased in any specialised shop.

You must make sure that the second monitor is correctly connected to the computer, as if it is not properly connected you will not be able to see the karaoke. If it does not detect it, try restarting the computer with all the screens switched on and correctly connected. A very common problem for the images not being displayed correctly is the outdated drivers of the graphics card, it is advisable to check that you have the latest drivers for the graphics card, to do this you can go to the manufacturer’s website.

Initial screen resolution

Although at start-up the programme automatically detects the working resolution, the optimal resolution for the programme is 1920×1080 and the playback resolution is 1280×720.

Activate the video output of the second monitor

The first thing to do is to connect the TV or monitor to the PC before switching it on. When Windows starts up, it will automatically detect it. Once this is done:

In Windows 7 and Windows 8:

  1. Right-click on the desktop on a space without icons.
  2. In the pop-up menu, click on “Screen Resolution”.
  3. Click on the screen marked with a 2. If 2 monitors are not displayed, Windows has not detected the second screen, please check the installation.
  4. In the “Resolution” section: select 1280×720, this is the optimum resolution, you can choose a higher one.
  5. In the “Multiple screens” section: select “Extend desktop to this screen”.a esta pantalla”.

In Windows 10:

Right-click on the desktop on a space without icons.

  1. In the pop-up menu, click on “Display Settings”.
  2. Click on the screen identified with a 2. If 2 monitors do not appear, it is because Windows has not detected the second screen, check the installation (Figure 1).
  3. In the “Resolution” section: select 1280×720, this is the optimum resolution, you can choose a higher one (Figure 2).
  4. In the “Multiple screens” section: select “Extend these screens”. (Figure 2)

When you perform these steps you should see on the second monitor an extension of the desktop on the right side, and everything you move to the right side of the desktop will automatically come out of this second monitor. The monitors are already configured to work with KaraokeMedia Pro X. If it does not appear, check also that you have selected the output in the programme for two monitors, the configuration should be as shown in the section “Monitors”.

If you see that the dimensions of the images you see on the second monitor do not quite match the resolution of the second monitor, you have to readjust them from the TV properties. This may also be due to the fact that you have to adjust the working format of the signal, which is PAL-B by default.

The screen saver is what is displayed on the screen when you do not interact with the computer for a certain period of time. If the mouse is moved or a key is pressed, it disappears.
