If you followed all the steps in the previous post “First steps“, the following two screens will be displayed (Figure 1 and Figure 2)

Figure 1. Initial screen monitor 1

Figure 2. Monitor 2 home screen

This initial screen (Figure 1) automatically adjusts itself to occupy the entire desktop, leaving the toolbar free to work with other applications. Monitor 2 (Figure 2) will cover the entire screen, as this is where the karaokes will be played, advertising will be displayed and the customer call will be made.

Main cycle

The main playback cycle of KaraokeMedia Pro X is as follows (Figure 3):

Figura 3. Ciclo de Karaokemedia Pro X

When there is no active karaoke song or no karaokes in standby:

  • Video: Advertising images are displayed in succession. If no advertising images are loaded, only a programme logo is displayed. If instead of background music, there are videos as background music, the videos are shown on the monitors, not the advertising images.
  • Music: The background music is played. If no mood music is loaded, then nothing is played until karaoke or mood music is loaded. It is possible to connect Spotify playlists for background music.

When there is a request for karaoke, before launching it, a call will be made to the client with an animation or a static image. In all the changes between the ambient music and the advertising songs, there is always a “fader” (lowering or raising of the music), avoiding abrupt changes from one audio to another.

All displayed timings are configurable via “General parameters / Timings” (Figure 4).

Figure 4. Configurable times

This cycle can be paused by pressing “Pause”. This action will pause the karaoke song that is currently playing, giving way to the background music. This background music cannot be paused so that every time a karaoke ends, the same song is not always playing. When the song is resumed by pressing “Play”, the background music will stop playing.

Advertising

In the top menu of “Advertising”, there are two options: “Advertising settings” and “Quick advertising” (Figure 5.a). From the shortcuts below the ambient music player, you can enter the settings and quick advertising (Figure 5.b).

Figure 9. Audio/video options

Monitors

From this option you can configure the number of monitors available in the room, you must also indicate the resolution of the second monitor if it is available, to do this you can click on “Detect automatically” and the resolution will be configured automatically (Figure 10). Otherwise, if you only have one monitor, you can configure to show and hide the video output on the first screen. The first thing to do is to click on 1 monitor in number of monitors (Figure 10), the buttons below the karaoke preview will be enabled, by which it will be selectable to run the programme on one monitor only (Figure 11). If you want to use two monitors you should take into account to have the optimal resolution in Windows, to configure it go to “Enable second monitor video output“.

Configure ambient music

This option is used to set the maximum volume of the ambient music, and also to set the faders up and down.

Raising or lowering the maximum volume indicates that the ambient music volume bar will reach the % indicated in this window, this option is ideal when the karaoke music and the ambient music do not have the same volume, with this control we try to equalise both volumes so that there is not much variation.

From this window you can also configure the speed of the faders, both for the lowering and the raising of the volume, if you set a lowering speed of 1U (unit) the lowering process will be slow and will last longer. If, on the other hand, a fader speed of 9U (units) is set, the fader speed will be very fast and will last for a short time (Figure 13).

Figure 13. Ambient music configuration

Select ambient music player

In this option you can choose between using your music stored on your computer or using Spotify for background music (Figure 14).

Figure 14. Ambient music selection

Sound card

With this option you configure which sound card to listen to each of the following options: Sound card for karaoke sound, Sound card for ambient music and Sound card for song preview (Figure 15). If you want to pre-listen to the songs before they are played, you can configure this option in the section “Sound card for song preview”, select here a different sound card than the one you have selected for karaoke (e.g. Headphones).

Figure 15. Sound card selection

Third monitor

If a third monitor is available, it can be used to show the playback queue and advertising. From this window you can configure the position (by default the third monitor must be underneath), resolution, maximum number of songs to show, which advertisement to show and the time to show the karaoke queue and the advertisement. When the third monitor is activated, you have to configure how long the karaoke queue will be displayed and how long the advertising will be displayed, by default 20 seconds for the advertising queue and 20 seconds for the advertising. If there is no playback queue, the advertising is constantly displayed (Figure 16).

Programming sound effects

If you want to add automatic sound effects after the Karaokes (for example, applause) you must create a list with the effects to use and you can configure the seconds before the end of the Karaoke. You can add any sound saved in your computer from “Search sound” or one of the effects saved in KaraokeMedia Pro X from add sound effect. If you activate this option, a random sound will be played after each Karaoke (Figure 22).

If you have other karaoke song catalogs, you can easily load external songs from the following button (Figure 23).

Figure 23. Load external song

When you click on the indicated button, a panel will open just below where you can search for the folder where you have the song you want to insert (Figure 24). The easiest way is to create a folder called EXTERNAS beforehand and place it for example on the desktop. If you click on the folder a Windows tab opens where you can choose the folder where you have the external songs. When choosing the folder all the karaokes of this one will be shown to you.
